During the five years of his stay in Costa Rica, Ciro undertook a very intense activity: lectures and courses, including a course in Ancient History and a course in semiotics, organization and participation in international seminars, thesis supervision and research on the economic history of the country. coffee in Central America and, of course, a wide range of publications. Of all these activities, I would like to draw attention to two. In 1975 he published his first book: History as science, a methodological essay followed by an anthology of texts designed for the courses of Introduction to history and methodology; In September 1974, within the International Congress of Americanists held in Mexico, he participated in a very well attended round table on "Modes of production in Latin America", which was chaired by Pierre Vilar and also had the participation, among others, of Roger Bartra, Carlos Sempat Assadourian, André Gunder Frank and Agustín Cueva.
