medidas preventivas.
Throughout the national territory, there is a great diversity of snakes and it is estimated that approximately 16% of the species are poisonous. Since ancient generations, snakes have been seen as evil animals, by generating feelings of hatred and fear, which is reflected through the great ignorance that people demonstrate regarding the nature and importance of snakes in the environment. In this research, the perception and popular knowledge about snakes in the area of Quepos and Parrita in Costa Rica was analyzed to develop a didactic proposal that promotes awareness and prevention of ophidian accidents. To do this, the problem and knowledge possessed by residents and tenth-level students in the aforementioned study areas was investigated. Through the application of surveys, it was found that both groups have a negative perception of snakes; Furthermore, based on the results obtained, little knowledge of its behavior and ecology was evidenced. At a general level, it was found that, despite identifying the danger of snakes, people do not apply preventive measures or the necessary guidelines in the event of an ophidian accident, due to the irrational fear induced in societies that influences ignorance about these animals, difficulties that can be mitigated by applying workshops and talks both in educational centers and in the study communities. It is concluded that the groups are unaware of these animals, their generalities and preventive measures.
