La importancia de las carreras Stem en el contexto global

Abstract

Comprende el marco de la relación existente entre las carreras STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics, por sus siglas en inglés) y lo denominado por Manuel Castells sobre la economía internacional. Plantea la meta de construir una sociedad y una economía basada en el conocimiento en base a la misión de la política, además que las instituciones son ejecutoras de acciones estratégicas en el aumento de capacidades de gestión del conocimiento, que a su vez genera y rediseña carreras como engranaje institucional de fortalecimiento de las acciones nacionales en investigación, desarrollo e innovación. Ese enfoque humanista permite no solamente abrir nuevas rutas profesionales con visión de futuro, sino también establecer vinculaciones necesarias con las áreas más dinámicas e innovadoras a nivel país y aportar al ejercicio de nuevas rutas de producción de conocimiento.

It includes the framework of the relationship between STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) careers and what Manuel Castells called the international economy. It proposes the goal of building a knowledge-based society and economy based on the mission of the policy, in addition to the fact that the institutions are executors of strategic actions in the increase of knowledge management capabilities, which in turn generates and redesigns careers as institutional gear to strengthen national actions in research, development and innovation. This humanistic approach allows not only to open new professional routes with a vision of the future, but also to establish the necessary links with the most dynamic and innovative areas at the national level and to contribute to the exercise of new routes of knowledge production.
