Abstract

Una característica asociada con el surgimiento de la ciencia moderna, en los siglos XVI y XVII, fue el establecimiento de una rica dinámica ‘socializadora’ del conocimiento mediante reuniones periódicas entre científicos, una profusa comunicación epistolar y la aparición de las revistas científicas. En el ámbito de las ciencias naturales aparecieron las primeras publicaciones periódicas a finales del siglo XVII, y posteriormente numerosas revistas especializadas, generándose un amplio universo editorial que hoy alcanza decenas de miles de publicaciones periódicas.
