Our biological corridor was born in 2014 when a technical profile study was conducted. Since its founding, this initiative has based its efforts on sustainable development strategies for its communities, including the promotion of payment for environmental services (PES) programs; green economy projects; sustainable production and ecotourism. Since 2018, efforts have been made for structural-functional connectivity through biological monitoring and the design of a priority route for reforestation. Our committee is made up of rural women's organizations, environmental organizations, Asadas, Integral Development Associations and public institutions such as the National University, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Local Government. Vision: To lead the process of connectivity between protected wild areas, landscapes, ecosystems and habitats of the Chirripó-Savegre Biological Corridor, with the support of citizens and inter-institutional coordination. Objective: Promote the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in the Chirripó-Savegre Biological Corridor and its surrounding areas by strengthening protected areas and their connectivity, adaptation and mitigation to climate change, maintenance of ecosystem services, coordination with other sectors and strengthening participation and governance models for the benefit of society.
