Manual de conservación preventiva y respuesta ante deterioros intrínsecos y extrínsecos para bibliotecólogos a cargo de ejemplares o colecciones documentales en papel con valor histórico/patrimonial, en bibliotecas de organizaciones gubernamentales en Costa Rica

Abstract

Se plantean dos objetivos, el primero que consistió en la elaboración de un diagnóstico de las bibliotecas de organizaciones gubernamentales en Costa Rica que cuentan con colecciones documentales en papel con valor histórico/patrimonial, como segundo objetivo, la elaboración de un manual dirigido a profesionales de la información con el fin de apoyarles en la toma de decisiones, en cuanto a conservación preventiva y de respuesta ante deterioros intrínsecos y extrínsecos de colecciones y ejemplares documentales en papel, con valor histórico/patrimonial. La metodología de investigación se realizó a partir de un enfoque mixto que permitió la recolección y el análisis de datos cuantitativos y cualitativos. La propuesta es de tipo exploratoria y proyectiva. Se utilizaron fuentes personales y documentales. A partir del diagnóstico, se concluye que los profesionales en bibliotecología que laboran en bibliotecas gubernamentales tienen interés por conservar a largo plazo sus colecciones/ejemplares documentales en papel con valor histórico/patrimonial; sin embargo, no se cuenta con el conocimiento, la capacitación, ni los recursos para hacerlo. Desde la propuesta, se ofrece un manual de conservación preventiva y respuesta ante riesgos intrínsecos y extrínsecos en colecciones documentales.

The first one consisted in the elaboration of a diagnosis of the libraries of governmental organizations in Costa Rica that have paper document collections with historical/heritage value. The second objective was the elaboration of a manual aimed at information professionals in order to support them in decision making regarding preventive conservation and response to intrinsic and extrinsic deterioration of paper document collections and specimens with historical/heritage value. The research methodology was based on a mixed approach that allowed the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. The proposal is exploratory and projective. Personal and documentary sources were used. From the diagnosis, it is concluded that library professionals working in government libraries are interested in long-term preservation of their collections/documentary specimens on paper with historical/heritage value; however, they do not have the knowledge, training or resources to do so. The proposal offers a manual for preventive conservation and response to intrinsic and extrinsic risks in documentary collections.
