The association "Finca El Progreso" of Pejibaye, Perez Zeledon, is an association of farmers dedicated to the cultivation of basic grains (rice, beans, corn). These people provide the services of cleaning, drying and piling, shelling and milling services, as well as the sale of by-products such as: semolina, husk and lace. CEPROMA (Center of Agricultural Production and Marketing) has the vision to be a recognized association and provide itself as a local and regional leader in the market for the purchase of basic grains and sale of agro-industrial services. On the other hand, with the sowing projection, it is intended to achieve a growth of five percent per year, with the participation of all the families of the settlements, partners and neighboring communities. The competitive advantage that the association offers is the availability of new agro-industrial equipment, the proximity to the place of production of the raw material, the possibility of giving better prices for the services, diversify the market segments and products offered. In addition, the organization will establish prices based on their real costs, take reference prices from the competition, seeking the benefit of producers. Currently, permits are being processed for the sale of one kilogram of packaged beans. The target clients are state institutions through the institutional assistance program (PAI), marketed through the national production council. There are agreements with different settlements, private companies, with (IDA, IMAS, MAG, INA, CNP). Among the objectives are to contribute to strengthen the socioeconomic development, improving the quality of life of the products, establish a strategic planning, and market research. Attention must be paid to factors that limit grain production: seasonality of production, scale of production, low level of association on the part of producers. It is worth mentioning the donation of the Instituto Mixto de Ayuda Social (IMAS) for an amount of one hundred and six million colones for the purchase of an equipped grasshopper, agro-industrial machines, road tracking and bridge repair. It is recommended that the association have an operating capital that allows it to meet the economic and legal commitments derived from its agro-industrial activity (accounting structure, administration and operating costs.) Since the annual profit from the sale of services amounts to seven million nine hundred and forty-eight thousand three hundred and sixty-six colones, benefiting a total of 90 families. This set of preventive and mitigating measures is aimed at minimizing the possible economic problems generated by the agro-industrial activity from its soil preparation stage to its cleaning, drying and grain polishing stage, in order to sell them in the markets.
