Some aspects of the biology of Xiphopenaeus Kroyeri were studied in the northern zone of the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica from February 1993 to November 1994. When analyzing the population structure, it was observed that 55% of the specimens studied were female and that the highest abundance Of the individuals analyzed, the cephalothorax had a length of between 12 and 21 mm, the first maturity size was obtained at 28.9 mm for females and 21 mm for males, according to the method of Ni and Sandeman (1984). 24 mm for females and 15 mm for males using the method of Coelho and Santos (1993). The highest abundance of mature females was observed in February and May, as well as in November and December. The regression equation was obtained that relates the length of the cephalothorax with the total weight: (P = 0.021 L 2.5694).
