cirugía: desvío portosistémico intrahepático y megaesófago debido a arco aórtico
derecho persistente, ambos en caninos
The externship was conducted at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover (Tierärztliche Hochschule Hannover), Germany, specifically in the Small Animal Clinic, during the period between January 17th, 2011 and April 8th of the same year and was performed during approximately 500 hours. The student worked in 3 clinical departments for a period of 2 weeks each (intensive care unit, ultrasound and dermatology) and in the surgery department for 5 weeks, which is the focus of this work. The intern participated in the attention of 25 cases of the intensive care unit, 166 ultrasounds, 19 dermatology patients and in the surgery department the student was involved in 60 procedures, including soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries. In the surgery room it was possible to participate actively as the surgeon assistant on 16 occasions. This paper describes the activities performed by the intern, the most relevant findings of the cases, as well as issues regarding the casuistic in the different departments of the clinic. Two cases of the surgery department are developed: intrahepatic portosystemic shunt and megaesophagus due to persistent right aortic arch, both in canines.
