El texto presenta un recital poético organizado por el profesor Mario Oliva en el Centro de Estudios Generales de la Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. El recital, titulado "Asalto al fin de Siglo", contó con la participación de reconocidos poetas como Thelvia Marín, Juan Bautista Lobo, Gerardo César Hurtado y Gerardo Morales. El recital buscaba significar la toma del poder y recorrer los mitos más profundos de la poesía, en un contexto marcado por la radioactividad y la "última cucaracha", metáforas que reflejan la incertidumbre y los desafíos del fin de siglo. La actividad se enmarca en el trabajo del Centro de Estudios Generales, que ha promovido diversas iniciativas culturales y artísticas.
The text presents a poetry recital organized by Professor Mario Oliva at the Centro de Estudios Generales of the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. The recital, entitled “Asalto al fin de Siglo” (Assault on the end of the Century), was attended by renowned poets such as Thelvia Marín, Juan Bautista Lobo, Gerardo César Hurtado and Gerardo Morales. The recital sought to signify the seizure of power and to explore the deepest myths of poetry, in a context marked by radioactivity and the “last cockroach”, metaphors that reflect the uncertainty and challenges of the end of the century. The activity is part of the work of the General Studies Center, which has promoted various cultural and artistic initiatives.
