Resumen
La utilización de los periódicos como fuente histórica por parte de los historiadores de Costa Rica, se limita casi siempre a los textos de contenido (cartas, noticias, reportajes, editoriales, comunicados, etc.) estratégicos para el estudio de distintos sectores y conflictos sociales.
Destaca la riqueza que brinda, en especial a partir de 1850, los "avisos" publicitarios o no, útiles para explorar con detalle diversos aspectos de la vida económica y cultural del país.
The use of newspapers as a historical source by historians of Costa Rica is almost always limited to content texts (letters, news, reports, editorials, communications, etc.) strategic for the study of different sectors and social conflicts . It stands out the richness that offers, especially from 1850, the advertising "notices" or not, useful to explore in detail various aspects of the economic and cultural life of the country.
