Resumen
En este tópico se menciona sobre la necesidad de llegar a un consenso nacional ante la influencia del TLC (Tratado de Libre Comercio) en las desiciones políticas, económicas, sociales y culturales de Costa Rica. Se critica un modelo educativo neoliberal orientado al mercado, que busca formar profesionales como clientes, y se alerta sobre la pérdida del humanismo en la educación. Asimismo, se plantea la importancia de una consulta general o plebiscito para decidir sobre el tratado, ante la sospecha que podrían subvertir el orden democrático. Finalmente, se hace llamado al compromiso del educador en defender el pensamiento crítico y las humanidades. El lector tendrá a disposición una poesía para el día y un artículo para estudiar un poco el contexto de Costa Rica en varios siglos.
