Consecuencias académicas, sicológicas y sociales que experimentan los estudiantes, posterior a no ser admitidos en el Colegio Científico de Costa Rica, sede Pérez Zeledón; con aplicación al proceso de admisión 2008-2009

Abstract

Se investiga las consecuencias académicas, sicológicas y sociales que experimentan los estudiantes, posterior a no ser admitidos en el Colegio Científico de Costa Rica, Sede Pérez Zeledón; con aplicación al proceso de admisión 2008-2009. Aunque se realizó bajo un enfoque esencialmente cualitativo, esta investigación cuenta con apoyo de corte cuantitativo. Para el desarrollo de la investigación se seleccionó como sujetos a diez estudiantes, escogidos tras un muestreo aleatorio intencional. La población de este muestreo correspondió a los ochenta y nueve jóvenes que realizaron el proceso de admisión 2008-2009 y no lo aprobaron, de un total de ciento diecinueve jóvenes de ambos sexos quienes presentaron la prueba. Los jóvenes seleccionados para la investigación actualmente cursan el quinto año de educación diversificada. Para el trabajo de campo se tomó en cuenta a los orientadores de los colegios que tienen a estos estudiantes a su cargo, así como a los padres de familia de los estudiantes. Se utilizaron técnicas como la entrevista estructurada y la entrevista en profundidad, dirigidas tanto a los adolescentes, como a sus padres y orientadores de los centros educativos. Se concluye: Rendimiento académico de los estudiantes que realizaron el proceso de admisión, ha sido bueno durante los años de secundaria anteriores a la realización de la prueba y en su mayoría este no se ha visto influido debido al hecho de no haber logrado la admisión al Colegio Científico. Los estudiantes en general se sienten a gusto con su forma de ser, del mismo modo, son poco quienes indican que su autoestima se vio afectada por el hecho de no haber aprobado la prueba de admisión.

It investigates the academic, psychological and social consequences that students experience after not being admitted to the Colegio Científico de Costa Rica, Pérez Zeledón Campus; with application to the 2008-2009 admission process. Although it was carried out under an essentially qualitative approach, this research has quantitative support. For the development of the research, ten students were selected as subjects, chosen after an intentional random sampling. The population of this sampling corresponded to the eighty-nine young people who carried out the 2008-2009 admission process and did not pass it, out of a total of one hundred and nineteen young people of both sexes who presented the test. The youth selected for the research are currently in their fifth year of diversified education. The field work took into account the guidance counselors of the schools that have these students in their care, as well as the parents of the students. Techniques such as structured interview and in-depth interview were used, aimed at adolescents, their parents and school counselors. It is concluded: Academic performance of the students who made the admission process, has been good during the years of high school prior to the test and most of this has not been influenced by the fact of not having achieved admission to the Scientific College. The students in general feel comfortable with the way they are, and there is little indication that their self-esteem was affected by not passing the admission test.
