Emilio Vargas Mena was building an argument so that what he wanted to demonstrate could be understood, making use of studies of the subject, first hand documents, scientific references and above all of "the voices of the mountain". When he refers to the species of flora and fauna of the area, he does not do it with the tiresome and heavy language of the one who knows, but with an almost colloquial language used by the one who wants to teach, so that the symbiosis between humans and nature and the effects that this entails are drawn through questions and an analysis in historical perspective. However, the author, apparently, does not denounce, his informants do. He is the medium that organizes the ideas. His denunciation is political, at times heartbreaking, but measured and pondered, and all supported by the weight of his informants, their memories and recollections.
