This research studies tourism as a particular case of the circulation of values and their transnationalization. It should be noted that from the classical field of political economy, circulation has been little studied, likewise, there are no studies that incorporate its analysis into contemporary economic processes. The present work is carried out taking tourism in Guatemala as a reference. In developing countries, the phenomenon of circulation has been insufficiently treated, interpretations directly linked to the production of goods predominate. The reason, perhaps, for such an incidence is that an acceptable degree of mechanization has not yet been reached in its various branches of production (industry and agriculture) that would allow them to overcome supply problems, which is why they are not interested in seeing What role should circulation play in the economy? Circulation is implicitly appreciated as a phenomenon of little significance, as if it were an exclusive derivation of productive aspects, without taking into account that the relative autonomy of circulation makes a process in the strict sense productive possible or unfeasible, at the same time, not considering the The transnationalization of circulation is, in part, not appreciating the way of capturing values and their transfer and valorization in other spaces that are not national.
