Resumen
Este estudio tiene como propósito investigar la actitud y percepción del estudiantado y las funciones del orientador en el proceso de articulación del sexto al sétimo nivel de la Educación General Básica de los colegios Dr. Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia, La Asunción y Liceo Sinaí del circuito 01, Dirección Regional de Educación de Pérez Zeledón, 2007. La investigación responde a un estudio de tipo explicativo, ya que, va más allá de la descripción de conceptos o fenómenos o del establecimiento de relaciones entre conceptos; busca conocer las causas de los eventos, sucesos y fenómenos físicos o sociales de los sujetos. La literatura utilizada muestra en qué consiste el proceso de articulación, su importancia, las principales estrategias por utilizar para favorecer la adaptación de los estudiantes al colegio, los factores que intervienen en el proceso, los ciclos y niveles de la educación costarricense, entre otros. Para registrar el proceso de recolección de datos se utilizaron cuestionarios con preguntas semiabiertas dirigidas a orientadores y a estudiantes de sétimo nivel. La población estuvo conformada por ciento treinta alumnos de la Unidad Pedagógica Dr. Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia, Colegio La Asunción y Liceo Sinaí. Los principales resultados muestran en general una actitud positiva del estudiantado hacia el proceso de articulación entre sexto y sétimo nivel de la Unidad Pedagógica Dr. Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia, Colegio La Asunción y Liceo Sinaí; ya que las respuestas por institución en las opciones “totalmente de acuerdo” y “de acuerdo” superan el 70% establecido en la operacionalización de la variable. La variable 2 “Percepción del estudiantado respecto de las funciones que cumple el personal de orientación en el proceso de articulación”, manifiesta para el Colegio La Asunción una percepción hacia las funciones de la orientadora de manera positiva; en el caso de la Unidad Pedagógica Dr. Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia el porcentaje fue de un 66%, ya que en la operacionalización de la variable en ninguna de las dos sumas se alcanzó más del 70% por lo que se define como regular; el Liceo Sinaí obtuvo un 73% en la suma de las opciones “en desacuerdo” y “totalmente en desacuerdo”, lo que indica que la percepción que manifiesta el estudiantado hacia las funciones de la orientadora en el proceso de articulación es negativa. Al establecer relación entre los resultados de la segunda variable sobre la percepción del estudiantado hacia la labor de las orientadoras y la tercera variable sobre las funciones que éstas realizan; existe coincidencia para los colegios La Asunción y Unidad Pedagógica Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia, que fueron catalogadas como buena y regular respectivamente, no así para el Colegio Sinaí, cuya evaluación por parte de los estudiantes fue negativa y la orientadora considera que su labor es regular. Las conclusiones se indican por variable, de acuerdo con los resultados arrojados en la aplicación de los cuestionarios diseñados. Las principales recomendaciones se sugieren al Ministerio de Educación Pública, directores institucionales, orientadores, personal docente, padres de familia y estudiantes.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the attitude and perception of the students and the functions of the counselor in the articulation process from the sixth to the seventh level of General Basic Education in the schools Dr. Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia, La Asunción and Liceo Sinaí of circuit 01, Regional Directorate of Education of Pérez Zeledón, 2007. The research responds to an explanatory type of study, since it goes beyond the description of concepts or phenomena or the establishment of relationships between concepts; it seeks to know the causes of events, occurrences and physical or social phenomena of the subjects. The literature used shows what the articulation process consists of, its importance, the main strategies to be used to favor the adaptation of students to school, the factors that intervene in the process, the cycles and levels of Costa Rican education, among others. To record the data collection process, questionnaires with semi-open-ended questions addressed to counselors and seventh grade students were used. The population consisted of 130 students from the Unidad Pedagógica Dr. Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia, Colegio La Asunción and Liceo Sinaí. The main results show in general a positive attitude of the student body towards the articulation process between sixth and seventh levels of the Dr. Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia Pedagogical Unit, Colegio La Asunción and Liceo Sinaí; since the responses by institution in the options "totally agree" and "agree" exceed 70% established in the operationalization of the variable. Variable 2 "Perception of the students regarding the functions of the guidance personnel in the articulation process", shows for Colegio La Asunción a positive perception of the functions of the guidance counselor; in the case of the Unidad Pedagógica Dr. Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia, the percentage of "totally agree" and "agree" is higher than the percentage established in the operationalization of the variable.
