Consecuencias personales y académicas generadas por la migración de uno de los padres hacia el exterior, en los estudiantes del Liceo Santa Marta, durante el segundo período del 2007.

Abstract

La presente investigación tuvo como propósito estudiar las consecuencias personales y académicas en los estudiantes del colegio Santa Marta, generadas por la migración de uno de sus padres hacia el exterior. El análisis es a través del estudio de casos colectivos y se enmarca dentro del enfoque cualitativo, debido a que con este tema se procura indagar la población de estudio y obtener un conocimiento más cercano de las experiencias, sentimientos y reflexiones de los estudiantes, madres y docentes. La teoría de la investigación aborda algunos temas y su repercusión en la vida personal de los estudiantes y su desempeño académico. Mediante el manejo de matrices y la triangulación el estudio interpreta la información proporcionada por los sujetos. La población estuvo conformada por docentes, padres de familia y alumnos de la institución educativa, a los mismos se les aplicó la entrevista a profundidad como el instrumento utilizado para obtener los resultados, ya que es un medio muy importante en la investigación cualitativa. Luego de efectuar el presente trabajo de investigación se concluye que el fenómeno de la migración de uno de los padres hacia el exterior afecta primordialmente el plano personal: autoestima, relaciones familiares, y el área emocional. El plano académico no ha sido muy perturbado por la migración. En esta instancia se debe fortalecer el área socio afectiva y familiar de los adolescentes, la institución educativa (docentes y el departamento de orientación) deberá promover espacios que contribuyan al fortalecimiento de dichas áreas y capacitaciones acerca del manejo de límites, dirigidas a padres de familia y estudiantes. Se recomienda también a los participantes de los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje que eviten hacer comentarios negativos acerca de la migración, que puedan lastimar los sentimientos del adolescente.

The purpose of this research was to study the personal and academic consequences in the students of the Santa Marta school, generated by the migration of one of their parents abroad. The analysis is through the study of collective cases and is framed within the qualitative approach, because this topic seeks to investigate the study population and obtain a closer knowledge of the experiences, feelings and reflections of students, mothers and teachers. The research theory addresses some issues and their impact on the personal lives of students and their academic performance. Through the use of matrices and triangulation, the study interprets the information provided by the subjects. The population consisted of teachers, parents and students of the educational institution, to whom the in-depth interview was applied as the instrument used to obtain the results, since it is a very important means in qualitative research. After carrying out this research work, it is concluded that the phenomenon of the migration of one of the parents abroad affects primarily the personal level: self-esteem, family relationships, and the emotional area. The academic level has not been very disturbed by migration. In this instance, the socio-affective and family area of adolescents should be strengthened, the educational institution (teachers and the guidance department) should promote spaces that contribute to the strengthening of these areas and training on the management of limits, aimed at parents and students. It is also recommended that participants in the teaching and learning process avoid making negative comments about migration that may hurt the feelings of the adolescent.
