The general purpose that guided this research was focused on analyzing the influence of social networks on the homelessness situation of three people living in the Red Light District of San José. For this purpose, the contributions of psychologist Urie Bronfenbrenner in the "Ecological Systems Theory" were used. This theory proposes that development is a phenomenon mediated by both the person and the environment, but above all the interaction between the two, establishing special importance to environmental interconnections and the impact they promote on human psychological development. Three categories of analysis were considered both in the design and in the study of the obtained information. These correspond to the social networks prior to living on the streets, the permanence of homelessness, and how to cope with it. The study is qualitative with a hermeneutic methodological design. The techniques used were workshops, semi-structured interviews, and photovoice, with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of the main social networks present in the life experiences of the participating group of homeless people. To capture the results, a description of the research process is presented, as well as the Care Center for Homeless People where the research was conducted and the participants' perspectives and experiences were collected, identified in subcategories that captured information for subsequent analysis. From this, it was concluded that the environmental conditions and events that occur in any environment in which a person is immersed have significant effects on their behavior and development. In the case of the homeless participants, there was a direct influence of the environment on their psychosocial development. It was also shown that the fact that a person arrives and remains homeless corresponds to a multifactorial process in which various factors that can be micro or macrosocial come together, such that said condition cannot be determined in a single element. In addition to this, it is important to emphasize the weight that the psychic structure of each individual has, as well as their capacity for tolerance in the face of conflicts and events experienced.
