Resumen
El asco es un extenso mon´logo de Edgardo Vega, emigrante salvadoreño recién llegado a Canadá, que tiene por interlocutor a Moya (el mismo Horacio Castellanos Moya, sujeto de la escucha y de la escritura). Novela ausente de cualquier nostalgia identitaria, en ella el protaginista migrantes desconstruye su relación primigenia, mediante un rechazo que funciona como síntoma de una nueva inscripción espacial. Por una parte, rechazo a lo que no se puede dejar de ser, de ahí el rechazo de sí mismo y de su historia; por otra, adhesión al deseo imposible de ser algo distinto a lo que hasta ahora sido. Resultado? La identidad, que podrían considerar como consubstancial a un origen, a un territorio o a unos objetos que actúan como signos de pertenencia a un grupo, deviene una estructura cambiante, producto de un discurso cuya finalidad obsesiva de distanciamiento, de desidentidad, se convierte en un moviemiento esquizofrénico propio de las sociedades periféricas neocoloniales.

Novel absent of any identity nostalgia, in it the migrant protagonist deconstructs his original relationship, through a rejection that functions as a symptom of a new spatial inscription. On the one hand, I reject what cannot be stopped, hence the rejection of himself and his history; on the other, adherence to the impossible desire to be something other than what it has been up to now. Outcome? Identity, which could be considered as consubstantial to an origin, a territory or some objects that act as signs of belonging to a group, becomes a changing structure, the product of a discourse whose obsessive aim of distancing, of disidentity, becomes a schizophrenic movement typical of neocolonial peripheral societies.
