Memoria de Talleres: Percepción de los actores sobre la articulación de la actividad turística en la comunidad de Cahuita

Abstract

En el año 2022, el Consejo Nacional de Rectores (CONARE) realizó una serie de encuentros regionales para conocer las necesidades de las personas en los territorios. Específicamente, el 25 de agosto, se realizó en Limón el respectivo a la región Huetar Caribe. Algunos de los temas que salieron a colación en dicho encuentro fueron: la necesidad de articular proyectos con las universidades públicas y privadas y, la coordinación interinstitucional; dando como resultado un llamado para articular el trabajo entre instituciones públicas locales. Dicho insumo fue considerado por CONARE para la formulación del proyecto “Fortalecimiento de iniciativas Socio productivas para el desarrollo de la Región Huetar Caribe”. Dentro del proyecto, se tenía como actividades realizar dos encuentros para identificar la percepción de los actores sobre la articulación, para lo cual se acordó trabajar con la actividad turística en la comunidad de Cahuita, por su relevancia en el turismo sostenible que tiene. Esta memoria tiene como objetivo sintetizar los hallazgos correspondientes a los encuentros realizados con la comunidad y las instituciones en Cahuita comunidad, Caribe Sur, Costa Rica. Para dichos efectos, este documento contiene posterior a esta introducción, la metodología empleada, los principales hallazgos en los cuales se hace énfasis en la percepción de la comunidad y de las instituciones, considerando elementos como la percepción sobre la actividad turística, la relación entre las instituciones y la comunidad en el desarrollo turístico, las fortalezas y desafíos. Adicionalmente se incluye un apartado de consideraciones.

In 2022, the National Council of Rectors (CONARE) held a series of regional meetings to learn about the needs of people in the territories. Specifically, on August 25, the meeting for the Huetar Caribe region was held in Limón. Some of the topics discussed at the meeting were the need to coordinate projects with public and private universities and inter-institutional coordination, resulting in a call to coordinate work between local public institutions. This input was considered by CONARE for the formulation of the project "Strengthening Socio-Productive Initiatives for the Development of the Huetar Caribe Region." The project included two meetings to identify stakeholders' perceptions of coordination. To this end, it was agreed to work with tourism in the Cahuita community, given its relevance to sustainable tourism. This report aims to summarize the findings from the meetings held with the community and institutions in the Cahuita community, South Caribbean, Costa Rica. For these purposes, this document contains, after this introduction, the methodology used and the main findings, emphasizing community and institutional perceptions. It also considers factors such as perceptions of tourism, the relationship between institutions and the community in tourism development, and strengths and challenges. A considerations section is also included.
