The purpose of this research was to know which are the mediation strategies that are most used in Biology lessons to enhance the ability of critical thinking on the subject of biological communities. The research responds to the dominant qualitative approach and a phenomenological study. The information was collected through a Likert scale cut questionnaire, this was applied to 124 students participating in OLICOCIBI and 20 Biology professors, a PISA-type case study was used that was carried out only by 108 students and finally an interview. semi-structured in which 11 of the teachers collaborated. In the results obtained, it can be seen that from the perspective of the students, the master classes continue to be used significantly, however, the teaching staff states that they would like to implement educational tours to develop the topic of biological communities in the classes. The conclusions indicate that the strategies implemented in the lessons do not allow enhancing the ability of critical thinking, and that it is important to contextualize the pedagogical mediation strategies to address the associated issues, so it is recommended that teachers self-train in this area to be able to enhance said ability in the best possible way through different methodologies and leave traditional teaching aside.
