The objective of this text is to elaborate an aesthetic relationship between the passage from romanesque to gothic (architecture, sculpture and painting) with the thought of Nicolás de Cusa. Based on the artistic selection, an aesthetic correlation was constructed through an iconographic and hermeneutical study with the following works by cusano De docta ignorancia (1440), Deus Escondido (1444-1445) and De idiota mente (1450). Therefore, the importance of the cusano contribution regarding the comparison of the transition from romanesque to gothic that this research proposes is the characterization of an artistic and historical paradigm shift that closes with the traditional ideas of the Middle Ages (romanesque) and opens the way (gothic) to enlightened ideas.
