In the last 2 decades, feminist organizations and economists have been concerned with studying the implications of adding gender discourses to economics discourses, understanding this as the power relations that exist between men and women. They have realized that international trade cannot be kept neutral, but must add the role of women, so that it is equitable. The FTAs are the case studies in which the issue of equity is visualized within the commercial policy. This article will focus on the case of Costa Rica. However, this case is not far from the reality of the rest of Central America, in which it is observed that this step has not yet been taken and does not even have sufficient indicators to carry out a substantial investigation. The first challenge is to create robust indicators disaggregated by sex.
