Free Software in Local Governments in Costa Rica: A Longitudinal Study

Abstract

This paper presents the results from a survey of local governments in Costa Rica regarding the use of free software and the limitations found for such type of software. This survey is part of a longitudinal study, which conducted a similar survey in 2012; therefore, the results from the present survey are compared with the previous one to determine changes across time.

Este artículo presenta los resultados de una encuesta a los gobiernos locales de Costa Rica sobre el uso de software libre y las limitaciones encontradas para este tipo de software. Esta encuesta es parte de un estudio longitudinal, que realizó una encuesta similar en 2012; por lo tanto, los resultados de la presente encuesta se comparan con la anterior para determinar los cambios a lo largo del tiempo.
