This research studies the distribution of coyote (canis latrans) in the montane life zone of the Central Volcanic Cordillera of Costa Rica and its relationship with humans as a subdivided contribution of the project "Areas of activity and diet of Canis latrans in the ethnoecological context of the tropical dry-humid transition and montane forests in Costa Rica"; carried out at the School of Biological Sciences of the National University of Costa Rica from 2019 to date. Three objectives of mixed approach are proposed: quantitative analysis from the geostatistical application and interpretation of perception from the qualitative paradigm. To analyze the information, LANDSAT 8 satellite images are used, applying atmospheric correction techniques and supervised classification to obtain the types of cover in which the traces are located by intersecting both variables.
