Abstract
The National University, Costa Rica (UNA), through the Education Division
Rural (DER), has made important progress in relation to formal education for
indigenous peoples, among which is the project in conjunction with the
Regional Educational Directorate of Sula' (DRE-SULA'): "Accompaniment of the Pilot Plan
school Namù Wö́kir: Contributions for an Intercultural Bilingual Education in
Talamanca” (SIA code 0230-16), which was executed from January 2017 to
December 2019, with the aim of developing investigative processes of a
participatory and reflective for the strengthening of bilingual Intercultural Education
in the territory of Talamanca.
This project, initially formulated for the Namù Wö́kir school, achieved
extend its methodology and provide support to a total of nine schools: Namù
Wö́kir, Alto Katsi, Bris, Alto Urén, Alto Kachabri, Duchabri, Tsoki, Dababri and Duriñak,
which currently continue to participate in this wonderful plan thanks to the support
that DRE-SULA has received from the "Permanent Support Program for Schools
Indigenous” (SIA code 0300-19) of the DER.
The pilot plan was developed in accordance with the sociolinguistic situation and
culture of the population, which is why it combined efforts in an interdisciplinary way
between the sciences of Education, Social Anthropology and Linguistics, leading to
to generate products of high academic value that strengthen the construction of the
pedagogical knowledge in bilingual environments, one of them being the present
Methodological guide for working with phonological awareness.
On the following pages you will find clear explanations and examples that guide
teachers on the path to the development of phonological awareness
in the classroom. With this, the author has generated material to support the processes of
Bilingual Intercultural Education possible to replicate by bribri teachers from other
school circuits who, by making small adjustments in the exercises, will achieve
respect and strengthen the dialect variant of their own area.
I only have to thank the M.L. Daniel Ruiz Chaverri for his dedication to the
preparation of this guide.
