Start Ups are a type of enterprise defined based on three characteristics: search for innovation and its correct management, development of competitive advantages to grow in the target market, and having high possibilities of internationalization. The characteristics of these enterprises make them a small number at the country level, which in turn favors the relative ignorance of these business units before public and private instances linked to the topic of national entrepreneurship. The importance of knowing more about national Start Ups addresses the need to understand their characteristics in order to develop incubation and support strategies adapted to their weaknesses, needs and, of course, strengths. Therefore, this is a first approach to address the unknowns that arise from these business models in progress and at the same time show the possible contributions they may have for the national economy. This document manages to characterize the Costa Rican Start Up, identify the elements that give it competitive advantages, and record the internationalization experiences. For this, the primary information coming from the entrepreneurs themselves is analyzed, the criteria of experts who have worked with these enterprises, and finally it incorporates a proposal of what actions should be formulated so that the culture of entrepreneurship, especially linked to Start Ups, has better elements and spaces to develop at the national level
