Resumen
Se realizó una pasantía en el Centro de Veterinaria y Zootecnia CES, de la Universidad CES, ubicada en Medellín, Colombia. Esta fue en el Área de Grandes Especies Animales, específicamente en la clínica de equinos, desde el 2 de abril del 2018 hasta el 2 de junio del 2018, cumpliendo así 540 horas totales. Se trabajó activamente recibiendo pacientes en urgencias, proponiendo e interpretando planes diagnósticos y terapéuticos de los equinos hospitalizados, así como participando en rondas médicas y procesos quirúrgicos.
La casuística equina fue de 53 animales en total divididos de la siguiente manera: 16 con afecciones del sistema digestivo, 11 pacientes neonatos, nueve caballos con problemas ortopédicos, siete yeguas para monitoreo de parto, cuatro animales con heridas, tres equinos con patologías respiratorias, un paciente con problemas neurológicos, un con enfermedad muscular y finalmente un paciente para oncología.
Se discuten dos casos a profundidad. Una yegua con cólico por atrapamiento del ID en el foramen epiploico y un potro prematuro con síndrome de mal ajuste neonatal en forma leve.
Con la realización de la pasantía se adquirió experiencia y destreza en el ámbito teórico-práctico de la medicina veterinaria equina, con el fin de poder brindar distintas soluciones a los problemas de salud y bienestar más comunes del caballo.
An internship was performed in the Centro de Veterinaria y Zootecnia CES, from the Universidad CES, located in Medellín, Colombia. It was done in the Area of Large Animals, specifically in the equine clinic, from April 2 of 2018, until June 2 of the same year, completing a total of 540 hours. It consisted in actively working receiving patients in emergencies, proposing and interpreting diagnostic and therapeutic plans of hospitalized horses, as well as participating in medical rounds and surgical procedures. The equine casuistic was of 53 animals in total, divided as follows: 16 with digestive system conditions, 11 neonate patients, nine horses with orthopedic problems, seven mares for birth monitoring, four animals with wounds, three horses with respiratory pathologies, one patient with neurological problems, one with a muscle disease and finally one patient for oncology. Two cases are discussed in depth. A mare with epiploic foramen entrapment of the small intestines and a premature foal with mild neonatal maladjustment syndrome. With the realization of the internship, experience and skill was acquired in the theoretical-practical field of equine veterinary medicine, in order to be able to provide different solutions to the most common health and well-being problems of the horse.
