El sarcoide equino es el tumor más común en la piel de equinos
alrededor del mundo. El desarrollo de estas lesiones en los
caballos se asocia a una infección con el papilomavirus bovino
genotipo 1, 2 o 13 (BPV-1, BPV-2, BPV-13). El objetivo del
presente trabajo fue caracterizar histológicamente y determinar
mediante técnicas moleculares el genotipo de papilomavirus
bovino presente en un sarcoide en Costa Rica. Equine sarcoid is the most common equine skin tumor worldwide. The development of these lesions in horses is associated with infection with bovine papillomavirus genotype 1, 2 or 13 (BPV-1, BPV-2, BPV-13). The objective of the present work was to characterize histologically and determine by molecular techniques the bovine papillomavirus genotype present in a sarcoid in Costa Rica.
