Estudio taxonómico de las colecciones de los órdenes Hemiptera y Homoptera presentes en el Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad, Heredia, Costa Rica.

Abstract

Mediante una pasantía que se realizó en el Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad (INBio), las colecciones de insectos de los órdenes Hemiptera y Homoptera que estaban sin clasificar, se organizaron a nivel de familia. De esta forma pudieron ser incluidos en el Inventario Nacional de Biodiversidad realizado por esta institución. El material clasificado se encontraba seco, previamente montado y colocado en cajas de madera. Se identificaron un total de 18 familias para el orden Hemiptera y 17 familias para el orden Homoptera, con un total de 15871 y 15373 individuos clasificados respectivamente. Para el orden Homoptera las familias con mayor número de individuos fueron Cicadellidae, Membracidae y Cixiidae. La mayor parte de los individuos identificados en estas familias se encontraron en el rango de altura comprendido entre los 0 y 200 metros. En el orden Hemitera, las familias con mayor número de individuos identificados fueron Lygaeidae, Coreidae y Miridae. En este orden, las familias a las que se les identificaron mayor número de individuos, también se encontraron en alturas bajas.

Through an internship held at the National Biodiversity Institute (INBio), the unclassified insect collections of the Hemiptera and Homoptera orders were organized at the family level. In this way they could be included in the National Biodiversity Inventory carried out by this institution. The classified material was dry, previously assembled and placed in wooden boxes. A total of 18 families were identified for the order Hemiptera and 17 families for the order Homoptera, with a total of 15,871 and 15,373 classified individuals respectively. For the order Homoptera, the families with the highest number of individuals were Cicadellidae, Membracidae and Cixiidae. Most of the individuals identified in these families were found in the height range between 0 and 200 meters. In the order Hemitera, the families with the highest number of identified individuals were Lygaeidae, Coreidae and Miridae. In this order, the families to which the greatest number of individuals were identified were also found at low altitudes.
