Microenterprises are important for the development and economic growth of a country, because they contribute to generate employment and the economy of the country. They become fundamental bases of society, help to reduce economic problems and to have a better distribution of wealth, hence the importance of the support that the governments of each country and financial institutions can give them, to offer them better conditions, creating appropriate legislation for this sector and facilities in the processing of development credits, to encourage the creation of new microenterprises, and the development of existing ones, which helps to improve the living conditions of the population of the country. Microenterprises encounter difficulties in order to develop, many legal procedures and permits that prevent them from starting operations and also cause them to work outside the law, and therefore do not meet the requirements that are requested by financial institutions so that they can obtain development loans. All of the above leads to propose the research problem, in terms of what are the conditions that microentrepreneurs must meet to be subject to credit. To this end, the following factors or variables that could influence the possibility of microentrepreneurs are proposed. The first of these variables is the ability to pay, and the purpose of this variable is to determine whether the study population has the income to be able to obtain credit. The second of these variables has to do with the incidence of collateral in obtaining a loan, as well as the types of collateral and their restrictions. Also taken into account were the different categories of clients and their influence on bank officials in choosing who may or may not obtain credit. Last but not least, the length of time the company has been in operation was also taken into account, in order to determine whether the longer or shorter the company has been in business, the greater the possibility of obtaining a loan for development. For this research, the microentrepreneurs of the automotive mechanic workshops in Pérez Zeledón, specifically in the districts of San Isidro de el General and Daniel Flores, were taken as study subjects. The objectives of the study are aimed at finding out what conditions microentrepreneurs present that allow them to be creditworthy in financial institutions, and at the same time to find out what conditions are established by these institutions.es_ES
