Resumen
Se realizó una pasantía en la Clínica Veterinaria Odontopet en Grecia,
Alajuela, Costa Rica, durante un lapso de ocho semanas.
En este período fueron atendidos un total de 247 animales, siendo la mayoría
caninos (188, 76.11%). El principal motivo de consulta, de los 247 pacientes que
ingresaron a la clínica fue la medicina preventiva (132, 49%).
En cuanto a las consultas por signos específicos, las consultas más
frecuentes fueron las relacionadas con el sistema reproductor (103, 12%). Se
realizaron 52 pruebas complementarias según la disposición del cliente, entre ellas,
las más usuales fueron: hemogramas (21, 40.38%), pruebas de
inmunocromatografía (11, 21.15%), así como ultrasonidos (6, 11.53 %) y
radiografías (5, 9.61%).
Se realizaron 47 procedimientos quirúrgicos de tejidos blandos. Se llevó a
cabo un total de tres limpiezas dentales en caninos. Se analizaron dos casos
clínicos en caninos: en el primero se realizó el manejo de la cistitis bacteriana y el
segundo correspondió al manejo de urolitiasis crónica.
An internship was held at the Odontopet Veterinary Clinic in Grecia, Alajuela, Costa Rica, for eight weeks. In this period, 247 animals were attended, being the majority canines (188, 76.11%). The main consultation reason among the 247 patients presented to the clinic was preventive medicine (132, 49%). As for consultations for specific signs, the most frequent was of the reproductive system (103, 12%). There were 52 ancillary tests according to the client's disposition, among them, the most usual were hemograms (21, 40.38%), immunochromatography tests (11, 21.15%), as well as ultrasounds (6, 11.53%) and X-rays (5, 9.61%). Forty-seven soft-tissue surgical procedures were performed. Three dental cleanings were performed on canines. Two clinical cases in canines were analyzed: in the first one, the handling of bacterial cystitis was carried out and the second one corresponded to the handling of chronic urolithiasis.
