Estimación de la Curva de Crecimiento y Talla de la Primera Madurez de Tres Especies de Complejo Opisthonema (Pisces: Clupeidae) en el Golfo de Nicoya, Costa Rica

Abstract

La curva de crecimiento y la talla de la primera madurez por sexos de las tres especies del complejo Opisthonema presente en el Golfo de Nicoya, Costa Rica de 1985 a 1986 fueron analizadas en el presente trabajo. Para este trabajo se utilizó el paquete de manejo de pesquerías Compleat Elefan el cual forma parte de FiSAT (FAO-ICLARM Stock Assessment Tool), el cual parte del uso de frecuencia de tallas para obtener los parámetros de crecimiento para la ecuación de von Bertalanfly. Para la talla de la primera madurez se aplicó la metodología propuesta por Trippel y Harvey (1991). Los resultados obtenidos muestran que las hembras de O. medirastre son las que presentan una L y un W mayor, mientras que los machos de esta misma especie son los más pequeños. También se logró determinar que los machos de O. bulleri y O. medirastre presentan un valor de K (1.4/año) y (1.2/año) respectivamente, mayor que para las hembras (1.1/año) y (0.96/año), lo que implica que su crecimiento es más rápido. Contrario ocurre con O. libertate en donde las hembras son las que presentan un crecimiento más rápido (1.6/año) con respecto a los machos (1..1/año). Para la talla de la primera madurez encontramos que está entre 17.0 cm para O. medirastre y 18 cm para O. libertate y O. bulleri, la cual alcanzan durante su primer año y medio de vida. Con respecto al estado de explotación de estas tres poblaciones encontramos que O. mediastre esta subexplotada mientras que O. libertate y O. bulleri están en equilibrio.

The growth curve and the length of the first maturity by sex of the three species of the Opisthonema complex present in the Gulf of Nicoya, Costa Rica from 1985 to 1986 were analyzed in the present work. For this work, the Compleat Elefan fisheries management package was used, which is part of FiSAT (FAO-ICLARM Stock Assessment Tool), which starts from the use of length frequency to obtain the growth parameters for the von Bertalanfly equation. For the first maturity size, the methodology proposed by Trippel and Harvey (1991) was applied. The results obtained show that the females of O. medirastre are the ones with a higher L and a W, while the males of this same species are the smallest. It was also possible to determine that the males of O. bulleri and O. medirastre present a K value (1.4 / year) and (1.2 / year) respectively, higher than for the females (1.1 / year) and (0.96 / year), which implies that its growth is faster. The opposite occurs with O. libertate where the females are those that present a faster growth (1.6 / year) with respect to the males (1..1 / year). For the size of the first maturity we find that it is between 17.0 cm for O. medirastre and 18 cm for O. libertate and O. bulleri, which they reach during their first year and a half of life. Regarding the state of exploitation of these three populations, we find that O. mediastre is under-exploited while O. libertate and O. bulleri are in equilibrium.
