Métodos y problemas en la historiografía chiapaneca: entrevista a Juan Pedro Viqueira Albán

Abstract

El Dr. Juan Pedro Viqueira Albán −Ciudad de México, 1954− actualmente es profesor e investigador del Centro de Estudios Históricos de El Colegio de México. Es Maestro en Historia por el Colegio de Michoacán −1984− y Doctor en Ciencias Sociales con especialidad en historia y civilizaciones por la Escuela de Altos Estudios en Ciencias Sociales de París, Francia −1997−. Con base en las tradiciones de la historia y la antropología social, sus investigaciones sobre demografía y geografía histórica han ofrecido elementos de análisis para comprender el pasado y la situación contemporánea de Chiapas. En ese sentido, dichos aportes han matizado las visiones simplistas e ideologizadas que sobre este Estado florecieron a raíz del levantamiento armado zapatista del Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN) el 1 de enero de 1994. En la presente entrevista nos interesa conocer su experiencia investigativa en la elaboración de tales estudios, cómo se ha renovado la historiografía chiapaneca en las últimas décadas, así como sus puntos de vista sobre los vínculos que se puedan hacer entre la historia de Chiapas y la de los países centroamericanos.Dr. Juan Pedro Viqueira Albán - Mexico City, 1954 - is currently a professor and researcher at the Center for Historical Studies of El Colegio de México. He is a Master in History from the Colegio de Michoacán −1984− and a Doctor in Social Sciences with a specialty in history and civilizations from the School of Higher Studies in Social Sciences in Paris, France −1997−. Based on the traditions of history and social anthropology, his research on demography and historical geography has offered elements of analysis to understand the past and the contemporary situation of Chiapas. In that sense, these contributions have qualified the simplistic and ideological views that flourished about this State as a result of the Zapatista armed uprising of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) on January 1, 1994. In this interview we are interested in learning about their investigative experience in the preparation of such studies, how the historiography of Chiapas has been renewed in recent decades, as well as their points of view on the links that can be made between the history of Chiapas and that of the Central American countries.
