Desarrollo de las economías compartidas y su enfoque en el crecimiento de la plataforma Airbnb en Costa Rica del 2010 al 2016

Abstract

La economía de Costa Rica es cambiante en cuanto a la diversificación de sectores que aportan a la actividad económica del país y se ve reflejado en los indicadores a nivel macro que se utilizan como insumo para el análisis de crecimiento. Actualmente se observa el incremento productivo en el sector terciario de la economía, un proceso que va relacionado con la globalización y crea mercados bajo un marco regulatorio, pero por otro lado, permite la creación de relaciones oferentes-demandantes creadores de necesidades, lo que lleva a la innovación en nuevos mercados que se fundamentan en herramientas tecnológicas para su utilización, los cuales no tienen regulación y crecen sin tener una medición pese a su movimiento y fortalecimiento en la economía. Con respecto a dichos cambios, el país tiene una debilidad en los indicadores de crecimiento, pues se basan y están fortalecidos en las actividades económicas que anteriormente daban una base sólida al crecimiento del país. La rama económica de servicios en Costa Rica, pese a su crecimiento a partir del 2012, y más específicamente, el crecimiento que se desencadena del sector no regulado y que se relaciona de forma directa con el sector terciario, necesita una medición urgente, ya que viene a crear un mercado que hace unos años no se tenía en cuenta como parte de la estructura económica, y que hoy día toman el nombre de compartidas. Una plataforma que se muestra como ejemplo de la economía colaborativa es Airbnb, esta proporciona al usuario un medio para la búsqueda de alojamientos y selección de características según gustos y preferencias; dicho ejemplo se puede comparar con la industria hotelera del país, ya que se encuentran en el mismo mercado. Este tipo de economía crea cambios importantes en cuanto a variables como ingreso y empleo, ya que la población encuentra una fuente para desempeñarse laboralmente y tener un medio de subsistencia. Para el desarrollo de la presente investigación se manejarán los siguientes pilares teóricos: Red de usuarios y social networks Teoría de la innovación Economía colaborativa Finalmente, observando los resultados de la investigación, se puede concluir que es evidente el crecimiento tanto en el uso de la plataforma de Airbnb como en la oferta por parte de esta; por otro lado, el impacto en el sector hotelero no se ve tan pronunciado, pero sí se observa una desaceleración con respecto a las tasas de ocupación y un aumento en el nivel de precios para mantener los ingresos.Costa Rica's economy is changing in terms of the diversification of sectors that contribute to the country's economic activity and this is reflected in the macro-level indicators that are used as input for the growth analysis. The economic branch of services in Costa Rica, despite its growth since 2012, and more specifically, the growth that is triggered by the unregulated sector and that is directly related to the tertiary sector, needs urgent measurement, since It comes to create a market that a few years ago was not taken into account as part of the economic structure, and that today take the name of shared. A platform that is shown as an example of the collaborative economy is Airbnb, this provides the user with a means to search for accommodation and select characteristics according to tastes and preferences; This example can be compared with the hotel industry in the country, since they are in the same market. This type of economy creates important changes in terms of variables such as income and employment, since the population finds a source to work and have a means of subsistence. For the development of this research, the following theoretical pillars will be handled: User network and social networks Theory of innovation Collaborative economy Finally, observing the results of the research, it can be concluded that the growth in both the use of the platform is evident from Airbnb as in the offer by it; On the other hand, the impact on the hotel sector is not so pronounced, but there is a slowdown with respect to occupancy rates and an increase in the price level to maintain income.
