Pasantía en medicina interna y cirugía de tejidos blandos en el Hospital De Especies Menores y Silvestres (HEMS) de la Escuela de Medicina Veterinaria de la Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica .

Resumen
El presente trabajo consiste en la recopilación de información de los casos clínicos
atendidos en el Hospital de Especies Menores y Silvestres de la Universidad Nacional de
Costa Rica, ubicado en Lagunilla de Heredia.
La pasantía se llevó a cabo durante 8 semanas, en un periodo comprendido entre el 20 de
mayo y el 12 de Julio del 2019. Para un total de 390 horas de asistencia.
Durante este periodo, el estudiante realizó consultas, asistió en cirugías tanto de ortopedia
como de tejidos blandos, realizó pruebas complementarias como ultrasonidos y rayos-x, así
como la correcta interpretación de los resultados. También realizó tomas de muestras
sanguíneas, de heces y orina, biopsias y citologías, entre otros.
Se registraron un total de 210 pacientes durante la pasantía, incluyendo casos de medicina
interna y de manejo quirúrgico. De los casos recibidos, un 81% fueron caninos, un 11%
felinos y un 8% de otras especies. Del total de las consultas recibidas la mayor parte (20%)
correspondieron a pacientes de ortopedia/traumatología y en segundo lugar (19%)
gastroenterología.
Los datos recopilados mediante la bitácora de trabajo se incluyen y analizan en el presente
documento, así como la distribución de la casuística por medio de imágenes y gráficos
según su especie, raza, edad, sexo y motivo de consulta.
Además, se realiza la exposición de 1 caso clínico por motivo de2 cirugías de enterotomía
para extracción de parásitos Prostenorchis elegans, en 2 monos titíes.Se detalla el
procedimiento quirúrgico, así como el tratamiento y evolución de los casos.
The present work consists of the compilation of information from the clinical cases treated at the “Hospital de Especies Menores y Silvestres of the National University of Costa Rica, located in Lagunilla de Heredia”. The surgical procedure is detailed, as well as the treatment and evolution of the cases.
