Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible: eje de la Política Educativa Costarricense

Abstract

El propósito de esta propuesta es verificar la inclusión de las competencias clave de la Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible en la Política Educativa “La persona: centro del proceso educativo y sujeto transformador de la sociedad” (PE) y analizar el eje Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible (EDS) de la Política Educativa y su relación con los 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS). Estos objetivos fueron aprobados en setiembre de 2015 por las Naciones Unidas y conforman la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible con miras a poner fin a la pobreza, luchar contra la desigualdad y la injusticia y hacer frente al cambio climático. Para realizar este análisis, se utiliza el método comparativo para verificar la inclusión de las competencias clave y la relación del eje Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible con los 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible, que describen los principales desafíos económicos, sociales y ambientales para el desarrollo de la humanidad, y así lograr un mundo sostenible para el año 2030. Dentro de los principales hallazgos de este estudio se determina que Costa Rica contempla la Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible como eje de la Política Educativa Costarricense, siendo entonces la educación el medio que permite el logro de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible. Además, las políticas públicas basadas en EDS se formulan y se fortalecen por medio de marcos normativos que consolidan iniciativas en las organizaciones y la ciudadanía.

The purpose of this proposal is to verify the incorporation of key competencies of the Education for Sustainable Development in the Educational Policy “The person: center of the educational process and transforming subject of the society” (EP) and to analyze the axis Education for Sustainable Development of the Educational Policy and its relationship with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). These goals were approved in September 2015 by the United Nations and make up the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with the aim of ending poverty, fighting inequality and injustice and being prepared for climate change. To carry out this analysis, the comparative method is used to verify the inclusion of key competencies and the relationship of the Education for Sustainable Development axis with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which describe the main economic, social and environmental challenges for the development of humanity to achieve a sustainable world in the year 2030. This study determines that Costa Rica considers the Education for Sustainable Development as the axis of the Costa Rican Educational Policy, being education the means that allow the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition, public policies based on ESD are formulated and strengthened through regulatory frameworks that consolidate initiatives in organizations and citizens.
