desarrollar destrezas.
This internship took place in the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMVZ), from February, 1 st through August 1st of 2016. The student was enrolled in the services of Small Ruminant and Bovine Medicine, Equine Medicine and Large Animal Surgery of the Veterinary Medicine Hospital at the University of São Paulo and in the rotations of Pathology and Clinic of Reproduction and Management of Reproduction of Bovine and Buffaloes of the Biotechnology Center for Animal Reproduction. A total of 112 cases were seen in the area of clinic and surgery and 158 in the area of reproduction. In the Small Ruminant and Bovine Medicine rotation, the skin and adnexa cases were the most common, followed by the musculoskeletal, digestive and urogenital system; a deep and critique discussion on the approach to diseases in ruminants is included. In the Equine Medicine rotation, most of the cases affected the musculoskeletal, hemolymphatics, respiratory and nervous system, which allowed to learn about diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in horses, when compared with an updated review about techniques in equine medicine. In the Large Animal Surgery rotation, the castration and dehorning were the most common surgical procedures. Vast knowledge and practice was gained in the area of large animal anesthesia and analgesia regarding anesthetic monitoring, recovery and protocols. In the Clinic and Pathology of Reproduction, a lot of practice was obtained in the correct performance of the breeding soundness evaluation in bulls and rams, including microscopic assessment of semen. In the rotation of Management of Reproduction of Bovines and Buffaloes, the student acquired experience in the use of reproductive techniques, such us transrectal ultrasound and sincronization of oestrus. This internship was a great opportunity to get training, gain knowledge and skills in Large Animal Medicine, Surgery and Reproduction.
