hembras caninas, 76 eran machos caninos, 36 machos felinos y 33 hembras felinas.
pacientes, 32%), Leishmaniosis (diez pacientes, 13%), Insuficiencia Renal Aguda (ocho
pacientes, 10%), Infecciones del tracto Urinario (cinco pacientes, 7%), Urolitiasis (cinco
pacientes, 7%).
An internship was held at the Giuseppe Gentile Veterinary Hospital of the University of Bologna, Italy, in the area of nephrology and urology, internal medicine and surgery during the months of June, July and August of the year 2016, under the supervision of Dr. Francesco Dondi in charge of the nephro-urology area. We actively participated in the work carried out daily in this medical center, collaborating in the care of canine and feline patients, emphasizing and documenting mainly those cases related to nephro-urology. The casuistry during the period of practice was 200 cases in total, of which 55 were canine females, 76 were canine males, 36 feline males and 33 feline females. During the first month, in the surgery department, 18 cases were followed in total (9%). In July, during the internship, in internal medicine, 107 cases were followed up (54%) and during the month of August, 75 cases of nephrology and urology were followed (37%). The pathologies most frequently observed were renal, gastro-enteric and endocrine origin, respectively. Among the most frequently observed diseases in the area of nephrology and urology are Chronic Renal Disease (24 patients, 32%), Leishmaniosis (ten patients, 13%), Acute Renal Failure (eight patients 10%), Urinary tract infections (five patients, 7%), Urolithiasis (five patients, 7%). The remaining 23 renal patients (31%) had other types of less frequent or mixed pathologies. In the present work two clinical cases are presented and discussed, one of vesicourethral dyssynergia and the other one correction surgery of intramural ectopic ureters with the use of lasers. After completing the internship, it was concluded that it is important to acquire theoretical and practical skills in the management, diagnosis and treatment of renal disease because the success of the therapy depends on this and the proper communication between the veterinarian and the owner.
