This work consisted in a dermatology internship at the VETEPAC Veterinary Clinic, with a length of 72 days, under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Chavarría Chan. During the course of the internship, all the cases admitted by the clinic were attended, with emphasis on those who had skin lesions. An amount of 143 dermatological consultations (20.9% of the total casuistic) were attended, the most common diseases diagnosed were hypersensitivity disorders, followed by bacterial infections. It wasn´t observed predisposition according to the gender of the patients, but animals of mixed breed and those who were between one to three years old were the most prevalent. The main diagnostic technique used was cytology, followed by skin scrapings. According to the treatment, more patients were medicated with antibiotics, commonly combined with topical therapy. The two more relevant cases are described in the end of the document, including the initial approach, the diagnostic techniques and the treatment. These cases correspond to a chronic dermatophytosis by Trichophyton mentagrophytes and a toxic epidermal necrolysis after been treated with a pour-on antiparasitic product against flea.
