Resumen
El objetivo de este trabajo se centró en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de enfermedades
gastrointestinales (GI) en caninos en el Hospital de Especies Menores de la Universidad
Nacional, durante el período de Mayo 2006 a Octubre 2006.
Como primer paso en la atención de los pacientes que ingresaban por problemas
gastrointestinales era la recopilación de la anamnesis del animal y posteriormente se procedió
a realizarles una evaluación por medio de un examen físico general. Se realizaron las
pruebas colaterales pertinentes para cada caso, se elaboró el diagnóstico y se decidió el
tratamiento necesario para su padecimiento. Si el caso era quirúrgico, se procedía a realizar la
cirugía atendiendo de forma correcta los tiempos preoperatorio, operatorio y postoperatorio.
Se atendieron un total de 90 casos con problemas gastrointestinales, de los cuales, los
de mayor frecuencia fueron los casos de parasitosis (n=32) y gastritis (n=23). Los casos de
obstrucciones intestinales fueron la causa más importante de cirugía gastrointestinal (n=5).
The objective of this work was focused in different techniques to the diagnostics and treatments of gastrointestinal illnesses on dogs. The study was conducted in the hospital of minor species of the National University, during the period between May and October 2006. As the first step in the patients attention (admitting with gastrointestinal problems), the animal anamnesis was recovered, them an evaluation was made, through a general physical examination. The pertinent collateral test were made for each case, so the diagnostic and the necessary treatment for their illness. If there was a quirurgic cases, the surgery was done paying attention to correct use of the preoperatory, operatory and postoperatory times. A total of ninety gastrointestinal cases were attended. The most frequent were the cases of parasitism (n=32) and gastritis (n=23). The intestinal obstruction (n=5) were the most important cause for gastrointestinal surgery.
