It proposes to analyze the journalistic treatment of the femicide case of Andrea Fernández that occurred in Costa Rica in 2018, for the recognition of media violence as a form of oppression that attempts against the integral fulfillment of women's human rights. A methodology that is located in the feminist critical paradigm is used with the scientific purpose of carrying out a non-sexist and non-androcentric case study in an attempt to improve the condition of women from the field of communication. As part of the findings, it is considered that the case study presented here makes visible the mechanisms through which the observed media violence, from a cultural and contractual dimension, has managed to merge with symbolic violence to go unnoticed and supported by freedom of expression. Media violence is thus evidenced as an energetic and constant manifestation of the structural violence that dehumanizes, hides and sells female bodies at convenience, for which various forms in which it is presented in the media have been unveiled in order to denaturalize and typify it.
