Water studies have been classically concentrated in supply (costs or structure of production, storage, and distribution of water), but not in demand. Water saved is the best way to avoid environmental damage, especially with the high economic and ecological costs of its disposal when they have gone through commercial, industrial, and household use. In this context, the effort of the International Center in Economic Policy to develop a survey on the household use of water in Costa Rica, represents a pioneering investigation to establish the characteristics of use by provinces, companies, and types of household consumers, thus identifying a series of research questions that can be developed later. The household water use and management survey are conducted as part of the REINA-Aguas del CINPE project. The work is done from a representative sample at the national level (with 95% confidence) through telephone interviews to a total of 1500 people. In general, it is found that the best-qualified company is ESPH, that Costa Ricans with the most quality problems and access to drinking water are those who live in the coastal provinces, which weigh the majority of the population, affirm being aware of the importance of water, when analyzing the uses and care they perform, the results are contrary. Public data and can be freely referenced as: CINPE-UNA (2019) Encuesta de uso domiciliar del agua en Costa Rica, Proyecto REINA.
