Resumen
El análisis de la pobreza se ha convertido
en un tema central en la relación entre
crecimiento económico y desarrollo
humano. Diferentes enfoques teóricos y
metodológicos han venido a enriquecer la
compresión de este fenómeno complejo.
Dichos enfoques, no solo han contribuido
con el desarrollo de herramientas analíticas
de gran utilidad en el estudio académico,
sino que también los resultados empíricos
de investigaciones en el campo han
informado y permitido un mejor diseño
e implementación de políticas públicas
para abordar el desafío de reducir la
pobreza y avanzar hacia mayores niveles
de bienestar y desarrollo humano para la
ciudadanía. En esta dirección se inscriben
los esfuerzos del Centro de Investigación
de la Universidad de Oxford, denominado
Oxford Poverty and Human Development
Initiative (OPHI ), creadores del Índice
de Pobreza Multidimensional (IPM). De
igual forma, han sido muy relevantes los
estudios desde el Jamil Poverty Action
Lab (J-PAL), del Instituto Tecnológico
de Massachussetts (MIT), acreedores
del premio nobel de economía por sus
aportes a la comprensión y aplicación de
políticas de precisión para la reducción de
la pobreza en el mundo.
