Sostenibilidad: hacia una resignación del concepto

Abstract

La sostenibilidad es un concepto que actualmente es utilizado en sus muy diversas acepciones que tienen como denominador común la histórica y protagónica definición de la ONU. Las diferentes acepciones se remontan al siglo XVI, en las ordenanzas para el manejo de los bosques alemanes a mitad de los mil seiscientos. La Organización de las Naciones Unidas convoca a la Conferencia Mundial sobre el Medio Humano, en Estocolmo en el año 1972. Los indicadores sobre la crisis ambiental y sus tendencias, obliga al organismo mundial a reaccionar en forma más efectiva (la crisis energética de 1972-1973 y la publicación del informe de la Sra. Meadows, o Club de Roma “Los Límites del Crecimiento" que ya para 1976 se había traducido a 30 idiomas y superaba la venta de 4 millones de ejemplares, son indicadores de esta coyuntura).
