The ecological footprint is defined as the "area of ecologically productive territory (crops, pastures, forests or aquatic ecosystems) necessary to produce the resources used and to assimilate the waste produced by a determined population with a specific standard of living indefinitely, be it wherever that area is "(Rees, W., Wackernagel, M., 1996). From the point of view of environmental impact, a university can be considered as an integrated system within its environment, with inputs associated with the consumption of natural resources: water, materials (building construction), paper and fossil fuels and outputs (production of waste).
