Resumen
Un acercamiento interinstitucional entre
la Escuela de Medicina Veterinaria (EMV) de
la Universidad Nacional (UNA) y el Ministerio
de Seguridad Pública (MSP) para la valoración
clínica de los equinos de la Policía Montada,
se dio en el marco de la tesis de licenciatura
“Hemoparásitos en equinos de la Unidad de
la Policía Montada del Ministerio de Seguridad
Pública de Costa Rica”, realizada por Jéssica
Arguedas, egresada de la carrera de Medicina
Veterinaria de la UNA.
El objetivo de la investigación consistió
en determinar la presencia de parásitos
sanguíneos en los equinos del MSP y
relacionar estos parásitos con el estado de
salud de los animales. Los 41 equinos usados
como muestra del estudio se sometieron
a un examen clínico, se tomaron pruebas
sanguíneas y de ectoparásitos y se obtuvo,
además, el historial clínico (padecimientos
previos y resultados de hemogramas).
