Lo social en lo económico: una toma de pulso desde 1996

Abstract

A un paso de terminar el siglo XX, nos proponemos hacer una revisión rápida, desde 1996, a los resultados de las políticas sociales aplicadas especialmente en los años 90. Se pretende determinar si hay resultados que muestran un avance hacia un desarrollo humano sostenido en nuestro país en materia de salud, educación, ambiente y, en general, en calidad de vida. El propósito de la política económica supone efectos concretos que buscan aumentar el bienestar de la sociedad en la búsqueda de la equidad y la justicia social. Sin embargo, entre el supuesto y la realidad casi siempre existe un abismo que afecta a la mayoría de la población, persistiendo una injusta distribución de la riqueza, que hace resaltar la injusticia social y la inequidad. Mientras esta realidad persista, la economía estará divorciada de un desarrollo humano sostenido, meta principal de cualquier modelo de desarrollo.

One step from the end of the 20th century, we intend to make a quick review, since 1996, of the results of social policies applied especially in the 1990s. The aim is to determine if there are results that show progress towards sustained human development in our country. country in matters of health, education, environment and, in general, in quality of life. The purpose of economic policy involves concrete effects that seek to increase the well-being of society in the pursuit of equity and social justice. However, between the assumption and the reality there is almost always an abyss that affects the majority of the population, persisting an unjust distribution of wealth, which highlights social injustice and inequity. As long as this reality persists, the economy will be divorced from sustained human development, the main goal of any development model.
