On January 29, 2021, the Banco Central ratified its commitment to low interest rates after its first economic policy session of the year, agreeing to maintain the monetary policy rate (MPR)0.75% per annum, thus reaffirming its position in favour of low interest rates with the aim of stimulating economic growth in the coming months. According to economic theories I have no doubt that the decision of the BCCR will be a stimulus for the economic growth of the country, and reflects the objectives of the Costa Rican Welfare State, which like many other countries worldwide, were tested with the pandemic by COVID-19.
