Resumen
El turismo en Guanacaste
ha sido una de las
actividades económicas con
mayor crecimiento en esta
región, habiendo aumentado
el producto interno bruto
de Costa Rica. Sin embargo,
pese a sus bellezas naturales,
Guanacaste ofrece limitaciones
asociadas con las condiciones
naturales, por ejemplo:
los seis meses de período
seco, las pendientes pronunciadas
de algunas laderas y
la importancia ecológica de
las áreas de montaña y zonas
costeras. Las condiciones naturales
y sociales en las que
se ha dado el crecimiento de
esta actividad económica han
ocasionado situaciones conflictivas entre comunidades
y desarrolladores. En este
artículo se analiza los conflictos socioambientales que
se han producido entre las
comunidades costeras y los
proyectos de desarrollo turístico
en los últimos 20 años
en Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
El análisis se basa en información hemerográfica. Como
resultado, se logró sistematizar
que se han abierto y se han
organizado en una tipología
que permite apreciarlos dentro
de un conjunto de temas
que afectan el desarrollo en
Guanacaste.
